Submission Dates: January 1 – March 31, 2011 (postmark or email deadline) by online submission manager or regular mail. Postmark deadline March 31 and email deadline (by 3 am EST April 1).

Awarding publication of a book-length collection and $1000.

Open to any poet writing in English, regardless of publication history.

2010 Nightboat Poetry Prize

Nightboat Books invites submissions to the 2010 Nightboat Poetry Prize. The winning poet receives $1,000, a standard royalty contract, and 25 free copies of the published book. Finalists are considered for future publication.

open reading period: prose poems

from White Pine Press:

The Marie Alexander Poetry Series has an open submission period during the month of July. An award of $500 and publication will be given for a chosen collection of prose poems by an American poet. Submit a manuscript of at least 48 pages, which can include some lineated pieces, along with a cover letter with complete contact information and an SASE for notification only.

Postmark must be between July 1 and 31.

One Contest; One Open Reading Period

The Gatewood Prize is Switchback Books' annual competition for a first or second full-length (48-80 pp.) collection of poems by a woman writing in the English language. It is named after Emma Gatewood, the first woman to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail.

Sawtooth Poetry Prize

The winning volume will be published in January 2011 by Ahsahta Press.

The Sawtooth Poetry Prize honors a book of original poetry in English by a single author; translations are not eligible for this award. The winning poet receives a $1,500 honorarium upon publication plus 25 copies of the published book. In addition to announcements in national publications, the winning book and author will be featured on the Ahsahta website, as will lists of finalists and semi-finalists.
